FREE Journal Covers

Tomorrow is our first day back to school, so I don't have much time to write a long post,  but here is a quick freebie that I just created for my own classroom. There are "My First Kindergarten Journal" cover pages :) There are two separate versions for boys and girls; there are also two in case you start in August, and two in case you start in September. Just add paper (and maybe binder combs!) for your first set of journals!!

Click here or on any of the pictures above to download the journal covers!!

Book Talk Tuesday: Two Kindergarten Favorites with FREEBIES!!

I am so excited to be a part of Book Talk Tuesday... I have really enjoyed reading all of the awesome posts for the last several weeks, but this week, I decided to join in the fun :)

Today, I am going to stick to two Kindergarten favorite books for the start of school:  Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?  and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  These books are great to build excitement about books, while also learning colors and letters. Plus, they are simply a lot of fun!!

These books are great to read in the classroom over and over, plus there are great YouTube videos for these books.

These books are also a lot of fun to use for lots of classroom activities:

Here is a pocket chart activity that I have for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom:

Just in the case the picture isn't clear enough, here is a quick description of the activity.
The 'poem" says:
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Will there be enough room
For  ____ and   ____
Up the coconut tree?

All the letters are at the bottom and students choose 2 letters each time that they read the poem.

If you would like the materials for this pocket chart activity, please click here.

I have also created Chicka Chicka Boom Boom play dough mats to practice numbers from 1 to 10.

I also have a fun, cut-and-paste counting activity to accompany Brown Bear.

I hope you enjoyed reading about these activities for two kindergarten favorites!!
Be sure to check out some of other posts in this week's Book Talk Tuesday :)

Thanks for stopping by and happy teaching!!

Classroom Tour

I LOVE looking at pictures of other kindergarten classrooms... I have my classroom almost ready, so I am going to share a few pictures.

On a sad note, our school has a new fire marshall who will only allow us to cover 20% of the walls. So, after Back to School Night tomorrow, LOTS of my decorations and teaching supplies are coming down :(

I am trying to decide how I can post student work, with such a limit on classroom and hallway displays. Here is my first thought... let me know what you think! As we make art projects/craftivities for each holiday/season, I will take a picture of each child with his/her project. Then I can print 4 pictures of the kiddos and their work on the same piece of paper. I can then post all 25+ kiddos' work on 7 pieces of paper. What do you think? If anyone has other suggestions, please let me know. I hate thinking of barren classroom walls :(

Anyway, here are a few pictures of my classroom (before I remove so many of my displays)...
Thanks for stopping by!! Happy teaching :)
