Beginning of the Year Assessment freebie

I just have a couple of minutes for a quick post; I have been working all day getting things ready for next week :)

I needed a beginning of the year assessment to give me information on colors, shapes, letters, sounds, numbers, counting, and name writing, so here it is!! The first page is the recording sheet and the two others are to show to each student (only one copy needed of these two pages!!) I also made an Excel spreadsheet to record the results, if you want it as well!!

Bucket Seats

Earlier, I posted a few pictures from my classroom. The bucket seats have gotten the most comments :) I apologize for the quality of this picture; I did not take a picture of just the bucket seats when I was in the classroom. I cropped this picture from a larger picture of the computer area. Today is my last day of summer, and I am NOT going into school today :) I will take a better picture and post it soon!!

These bucket seats were a very quick and easy summer project!! I saw the crate seats all over Pinterest and really wanted to make a set. However, I am not very crafty, plus I teach kindergarten: there are LOTS of things that could happen to the fabric on those crate seats!! So, I looked around a little more :) I found these bucket lids on ebay; they were reasonably priced and came in a variety of colors!! I ordered the lids and then went to Lowe's for the buckets. These buckets were around $2 - $3 each. I went to the Dollar Tree and found wall decal stickers to decorate them; one sheet was plenty for each bucket!! I made two space-themed, one sports-themed, and one princess-themed!! I think the kiddos will enjoy them and I know I will like the extra storage!!

Classroom Tour

I LOVE looking at other classrooms!! I get sooo many great ideas just from looking at pictures on Pinterest or on blogs. I decided other people MIGHT want to look around my little corner of the world :) Here are a few pictures from my kindergarten classroom. I am going to let the pictures speak for themselves (a picture IS worth 1000 words!!) But, if you have any questions, just leave me a comment!!

I Think I Can.. I Think I Can

It is getting down to crunch time!!! There are so many things to do to get ready for a new year :)

One important thing is thinking about how to communicate learning expectations to young students; it is one thing to post a standard in the classroom, but for non-readers in kindergarten, just a bunch of words doesn't mean a lot!!

I have made these classroom posters to explain each of the Common Core Standards for Kindergarten. I have a set for Language Arts and a set for Math. I tried REALLY hard to illustrate each standard in a way that helps students understand what they are learning. I am excited to use these in my classroom and I hope some of you find them helpful :)

Click on any of the pictures to go to my TpT store to see the reviews and decide if you would like to purchase them for your classroom!!
